    Research interests

    Dr. Alain Lekoubou's research goal is to improve the understanding of factors influencing the incidence and outcome of stroke and epilepsy and the link between both conditions, hence lessening the burden of post-stroke epilepsy, which affects one in 10 stroke survivors.

    Dr. Lekoubou has used large national datasets to answer relevant research questions on stroke and epilepsy epidemiology and risk factors. His research focuses on stroke outcomes research; epilepsy outcomes research; and model prediction and risk factors for post-stroke epilepsy.

    Clinical interests

    Dr. Alain Lekoubou's primary clinical interests are epilepsy and general neurology. He medically and surgically manages epilepsy, including the most complex cases.

    In the clinic and inpatient settings, he has an expertise in electro-encephalogram (EEG) reading, including stereo-EEG, continuous video EEG studies and epilepsy monitoring unit.

    Dr. Lekoubou evaluates, selects, prepares and monitors patients for the surgical treatment of their epilepsy. He also uses neuro-stimulation devices to treat epilepsy.

    His general neurology interests include conditions such as headaches, neuro-inflammatory diseases and stroke, both in the clinic and in the inpatient setting.
