- Cardiovascular and metabolic health outcomes of sleep loss
- Sleep extension interventions to improve health and wellbeing
- Human genetics/genomics of sleep and circadian biology
Dr. Chang's research involves the inter-relationships of sleep physiology and behavior, circadian rhythms, cardio-metabolic health, cognitive function and genomics. Research projects in her Sleep and Human Health (Shh) lab include epidemiological studies in large samples, intervention field studies, and intensive inpatient studies in the laboratory related to sleep loss and/or sleep extension on various health outcomes. Her previous work has examined the effects of light on sleep; particularly the light emitted from electronic media devices.
