Teaching and educational interests

Dr. David Chu is the associate program director for the Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Fellowship at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. He directs the critical care ultrasound curriculum for the fellowship and co-directs a point-of-care ultrasound curriculum for the medical center's Internal Medicine Residency.

He also acts as a clinical coach for the internal medicine residents and is interested in improving mentoring and coaching in post-graduate medical education.

Dr. Chu also directs a personal finance curriculum for graduate medical education trainees.

Clinical interests

Dr. David Chu's clinical focus is in the management of patients with pulmonary hypertension. He regularly sees patients in the outpatient pulmonary clinic and provides consultative services on inpatients with pulmonary hypertension.

He has specific interests in the management of patients with portopulmonary hypertension and in group 3 pulmonary hypertension, and in determining characteristics to better determine which patients may benefit from pulmonary vasodilator therapy.

Dr. Chu also has interest in the evaluation of patients with intermediate-risk pulmonary embolism and determining which patients may benefit from therapies beyond systemic anticoagulation.
