Research interests
Dr. Erika Saunders' research interests are twofold:
- First, to identify biomarkers of bipolar disorders that mediate clinical phenotype, and to use those markers to predict and to follow treatment response. Using the tools of translational research, the Saunders lab is currently studying the relationship between mood variability, sleep phenotypes, inflammation, stress hormones and metabolites of polyunsaturated fatty acid pathways.
- Second, to improve diagnosis and outcome in real-world clinical settings using tools such as systematic assessment and measurement-based care.
