Clinical interests

Dr. Johnathan McGinn has distinguished himself as a respected clinician and educator and leader in the field of otolaryngology – head and neck surgery. While his primary clinical focus is inflammatory and benign sinonasal disease, he practices a large breadth of general otolaryngology.

Research interests

Dr. Johnathan McGinn has a primary scholarly interest in medical education for residents and medical students. His clinical research focus is in rhinology and general otolaryngology topics.

Teaching and educational interests

Dr. Johnathan McGinn’s primary concentration in academia is medical education and mentorship. He has served as director of the Otolaryngology Residency at Penn State College of Medicine since 2007 and was previously the associate program director for years. Under his leadership, the program has grown its complement and established a research track for resident training. He has mentored scores of medical students and residents interested in the specialty.

Dr. McGinn is heavily involved in the College of Medicine undergraduate medical educational mission through courses and committees, and actively serves on the GME Committee and GME Leadership Team.
