How does matter and information cross cell membranes? The lab of Dr. Kenneth Lee is interested in answering this question by elucidating the mechanism of membrane proteins that carry out this fundamental process.
Ion channels, transporters and receptors are the lab's primary focus. The lab team combines electron cryomicroscopy with X-ray crystallographic, biophysical, biochemical, chemical-biological, electrophysiological and cell-biological approaches to investigate how these devices work at the molecular level.
The Lee lab also leverages its insight to understand the genetic basis of important diseases and to find new therapeutic strategies.
