    Research interests

    Dr. Paul Kocis, a clinical pharmacist, developed and continues to maintain a computerized monitoring process to systematically evaluate and report on warfarin point-of-care INR accuracy discrepancies within Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. His IRB-approved research has resulted in the publication of several abstracts and scientific posters for various scientific congresses on the topic of warfarin point-of-care testing. He is also a principal investigator for a number of IRB-approved research projects designed to better understand the patient characteristics, bleeding and thrombosis events associated with direct oral anticoagulants and warfarin.

    In addition, Dr. Kocis has an academic interest in the clinical effects of drug-drug interaction.

    Clinical interests

    Dr. Paul Kocis is a clinical pharmacist in the anticoagulation clinic of the Department of Pharmacy's disease state management team at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. There, he manages the warfarin regimens of the most medically complex patients, including those with total artificial heart and left ventricular assist devices, and from the hematology, oncology, transplant, cardiology and neurology patient populations.
