Personal profile

Research interests

Dr. Sarah Horvath is interested in research that improves access to reproductive health care for all patients. She is currently part of a multi-center, multidisciplinary team seeking to understand the earliest gestational age at which Rh immunoglobulin is necessary to prevent sensitization in pregnant women, as testing and provision of such treatment increase the cost of first trimester pregnancy care without proven benefit. She is passionate about the impact of health care policy and regulation on access to family planning patient care and medical education. She is currently conducting and developing multiple research projects which aim to assess these impacts on various populations of patients and learners.

Teaching and educational interests

Dr. Sarah Horvath is invested in providing comprehensive, evidence-based reproductive health education and training to medical students and residents. She teaches pre-clinical lectures, has recorded clerkship-level educational podcasts and given talks to obstetrics and gynecology residents and faculty on the full scope of family planning topics. She is currently working within her department to create a family planning rotation for obstetrics and gynecology residents in their first and second years of training.

Clinical interests

Dr. Sarah Horvath is devoted to expanding access to comprehensive, evidence-based reproductive health care for women in Pennsylvania. She has several initiatives in both the outpatient and inpatient settings aimed at improving access to family planning care.
