    Research interests

    Dr. Albano-Aluquin’s research interests include profiling the inflammatory microenvironment in giant cell arteritis and neuropathy subtypes in systemic lupus erythematosus. She has presented these topics at local and international meetings and has several peer-reviewed publications. Dr. Albano-Aluquin has also served as a research mentor to medical residents and fellows, and graduated from the Junior Faculty Development Program and the pilot Clinical Scientist Faculty Mentoring Program at the Penn State College of Medicine.

    Teaching and educational interests

    Dr. Albano-Aluquin lectures on Rheumatoid arthritis and vasculitis to Year Level I and II Medical Students and Internal Medicine Residents. She is also the liaison and Rheumatology coordinator for Internal Medicine Ambulatory 3rd year Medical Students, and mentors rotating medical students and residents in the clinic with a focus on teaching chronic arthritis pain and musculoskeletal examination skills. She has mentored medical students, residents, Rheumatology and Geriatrics fellows longitudinally, and whose achievements include finding the right career paths, finishing quality indicator projects and presenting abstracts to scientific meetings.

    Dr. Albano-Aluquin is a board-certified rheumatologist with additional fellowship training in Geriatric Medicine, and sees patients full time at the Penn State Health clinic in Middletown, PA. Her clinical interests include giant cell arteritis, sarcoidosis, vasculitis and other granulomatous diseases.
