Research interests

Dr. Umur Aydogan's main research interest is related to the role of stem cell treatment for the treatment of posterior tibial tendinopathy and treatment methods for plantar fasciitis and tarsal tunnel syndrome. He has also published in the area of biomechanical testing of various implants used in the treatment of foot and ankle disorders and is interested in research of multiphoton imaging of diseased tendons.

Dr. Aydogan has been an active member of Penn State College of Medicine's Institutional Review Board for scientific studies since 2014.

Teaching and educational interests

Dr. Umur Aydogan is actively involved in the education of trainees in the Orthopaedic Residency and Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Fellowship at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.

He also moderates problem-based learning session and teaches in musculoskeletal (MSK) anatomy courses for Penn State College of Medicine medical students.

Clinical interests

Dr. Umur Aydogan is a foot and ankle expert with clinical fellowship training and also takes level one trauma call. He sees any pathology related to the foot and ankle, including fracture care and reconstruction; hallux valgus treatment; sports injury-related arthroscopic procedures; and total ankle replacement.
