Research interests
Dr. Xuemei Huang came to Penn State College of Medicine/Penn State College of Medicine in 2008.
Her research focuses on multidisciplinary approaches to understanding both etiology and neural mechanisms of neurodegenerative diseases and the mechanisms by which drugs work. Dr. Huang has been a consultant to the National Institutes of Environmental Health Sciences, and is a frequent grant reviewer for the National Institutes of Health, which has funded her research since 2003.
She is the author of more than 160 peer-reviewed research papers, as well as many chapters and research letters, and holds one patent.
She is the founding director of Penn State College of Medicine's Translational Brain Research Center. The center was started in 2017 to pursue and encourage bidirectional translational projects focused on brain neurodegeneration related to disease and aging.
