Penn State University Libraries' Open House is a unique concept in library orientation. Rather than focusing on orienting new and first-year students to print and electronic resources, the event instead addresses students' affective feelings about using the library. A colorful party theme, decorations, and fun activities break down barriers between students and library faculty and staff, and encourage students to return to the library when they need help.
