Abstract

A microcomputer-based resource information system is being developed to facilitate wise agricultural and urban land-use decisions at (US) county and local levels. Major information components of the system are digitized soil maps and digital elevation models (DEMs). Interaction with county and local-level users indicates that cost and simplicity of operation are two primary considerations in system design. Therefore, the current system design utilizes inexpensive hardware (less than $5000) and is completely menu driven. Future system enhancements will be directed towards the development of an expert resource management system. -from Authors
