Abstract

Cross taxonomic comparisons are frequently used by evolutionary biologists to interpret the adaptive significance of differences between species in behaviour or morphology. The comparative method can be used 1) to interpret the reasons for host species with large ranges having more recorded parasites species; 2) to test for a possible role of parasites in sexual selection; and 3) to reveal indicators of species differences in parasite prevalence. -from Authors
