Backward phase-matching in negative-index materials

    Abstract

    We experimentally demonstrate the nonlinear mirror effect in a negative-index medium using a waveguide configuration. This confirms for the first time a decade old prediction and expands the scope of nonlinear optics in artificially-structured media.
