Beam amplification and clean-up with two- and four-wave mixing in photorefractive nematic liquid crystal films

Abstract

Beam amplification and clean-up with two-and four-wave mixing observed in photorefractive nematic liquid crystal (NLC) films were discussed. It was found that when four (or more) waves travel in a nonlinear medium they interact. Doped NLC films gave exponential coefficients as high as ∼2890 cm-1.
