Beyond the traditional polarization response in electrets: Some amazing properties of the ferrorelaxor polymers

    Abstract

    Among various electrets, ferroelectric poly(vinylidene fluoride- trifluoroethylene) (P(VDF-TrFE)) polymer is unique due to its rich cross-coupling phenomena, as illustrated in figure 1[1-2]. Moreover the presence of ferroelectric-paraelectric transition (FE-PE) provides great opportunities to tailor and generate large materials response, required for many applications. During the past several years, a great deal of efforts have been devoted to modifying PVDF based polymers via various defects modification approaches which have led to electroactive polymers, especially the ferroelectric relaxor (Ferrorelaxor) polymers, with exceptionally high responses and this talk will review some of these advances in ferrorelaxor polymers [3-6].
