Abstract
We studied 87 healthy dogs to determine background levels of blood lead in dogs living in a presumably uncontaminated environment. We took blood samples from dogs and asked their owners for information regarding behavioral risk factors related to environmental lead exposure. The mean blood lead concentration was 5 (± 4.4) ug/dl (range 0-22 ug/dl).
