Chemisorbed water fundamental to chemistry of glass surfaces

Abstract

Temperature-programmed static- SIMS (secondary-ion mass spectroscopy) can provide semi-quantitative analysis of water, hydroxide and hydroxyl on glass surfaces. By using this technique, a complete chemical characterization of any glass surface, and understanding of the physical adsorption, fatigue and organic bonding at glass surfaces are possible.
