Abstract

Endres has studied expansions of eigenfunctions of a Morse oscillator upon basis sets derived from different harmonic-oscillator Hamiltonians. We have shown how an optimal basis set for such a problem can be determined. For the particular case studies by Endres, our prediction compares favorably with his result.
