Abstract

In this article, roles for community psychologists in the HIV epidemic are described. The current status of AIDS‐ and HIV‐related illnesses is briefly summarized, as are gender differences and minority population issues. A model for community preventive interventions is provided to guide the development of context‐specific plans. Immediate steps for community psychologists to take in this national health epidemic are recommended.
