Abstract

A composite model for pressure-drop calculation is proposed. A comparison is made between this composite model and methods proposed previously with 323 sets of field-measured data. Onshore and offshore Indian oil and gas fields currently being exploited were selected. An extensive effort was made to acquire the large number of actual field-measured data required for this study, including some data sets collected from the literature. The 323 data sets cover a wide range of all parameters. The accuracy of the pressure drop calculated by the proposed model shows good results. Study of its applicability in different ranges indicated that this model performs well in all the ranges of liquid flow rate, GOR, API gravity, and water cut. Several other methods performed well.
