Dielectric constant of Ne near its liquid-vapor critical point

Abstract

We report high-resolution measurements of the static dielectric constant of neon near its critical point along nine isochores with densities ranging from 0.85c to 1.15c, c being the critical density. These measurements were conducted to search for the predicted divergence in (T)c near Tc. We did not find any anomaly in the dielectric constant in either the one-phase (T>Tc) or the two-phase (T<Tc) regions within our experimental uncertainty of =3×10-7 and 5×10-6, respectively.
