Abstract

A nonlinear dynamic model of an electrohydraulic position control servosystem has been developed to evaluate the effect of certain nonlinearities on transient characteristics. The nonlinearities of the pressure/flow characteristics, and Coulomb-friction are included in the model, along with the dynamics of fluid flow and compressibility, and leakage through the seals. Transient response for shaft position and load pressure reveal that: (1) the system can be appropriately damped by applying velocity feedback, (2) the addition of Coulomb-friction in the valve motor load can significantly improve the dynamic response of the servosystem, and (3) the nonlinearity associated with the spool valve tends to make the transient response more oscillatory. Simulation results were found to be in good agreement with the experimental data.
