Abstract
SDS-PAGE was used to analyze seed protein extracts from plants representing 58 orders of the Dicotyledoneae. In most seeds, including Magnolia grandiflora, the most prevalent storage protein class appeared to be the 11 S or legumin-like proteins. These data suggest that the legumin-like proteins are ubiquitous throughout the plant kingdom.
