Experimental realization of sculptured-thin-film polarization-discriminatory light-handedness inverters

Abstract

The experimental findings on sculptured thin films (STFs) for optical use are reported. A comparison with liquid crystal devices is warranted. The optical response characteristics of the film device were theoretically delineated. The serial bideposition (SBD) technique is used to deposit the two section STF on a glass substrate. A CTF half-wave plate inverts the handedness of circularly polarized plane waves.
