Abstract

The effective Maxwell Garnett (EMG) approach is used to homogenize a dielectric-in-dielectric composite with nonlinear spherical inclusions embedded in a linear host medium. A perturbative approach is implemented because the nonlinearity is weak. An estimate of the effective nonlinear permittivity is derived. This estimate depends on the volumetric proportion of the inclusion medium as well as the inclusion size parameter.
