Abstract

(Chemical Equation Presented) The syntheses of (±)- dibromophakellstatin and, from this species, (±)-dibromophakellin are described. Oxidative cyclization of a phenylthiolated dihydrooroidin derivative triggered by a Pummerer reaction constitutes the key step in this biomimetic approach to this family of marine alkaloids.
