Generation of circularly polarized, single-cycle pulses of terahertz radiation

Abstract

Two different schemes for generating circularly polarized (CP) THz pulses are experimentally demonstrated. The first method relies on a classical optical approach, that of the Fresnel rhomb. The second method produces CP THz radiation directly, rather than transforming it from a linearly polarized state.
