Hydrogen/nitrogen dioxide kinetics: Derived rate data for the reaction H2 + NO2 = HONO + H at 833 K

Abstract

New experimental data were obtained for the reaction of H2 with NO2 at temperatures near 833 K and pressures between 1.2 and 5.0 atm. Numerical predictions from previously published reaction mechanism showed good agreement with measured species profiles at 833 K only when the recommended rate constant for H2 + NO2 = HONO + H is reduced by a factor of 30. Steady-state analyses of a simple five-step mechanism were used to develop an analytical expression for N2 consumption that well predicts the high-pressure data.
