Hydrothermal synthesis of mordenite needles from erionite

Abstract

Hydrothermal transformation of erionite to mordenite needles and analcime at 300°C under a confining pressure of 30 MPa is reported here. The transformation of erionite under hydrothermal conditions has implications to diagenetic reactions in tuffs and to hydrothermal stability of zeolites in a high-level nuclear waste repository environment.
