Abstract

The forming of continuous fiber composites is a new, potentially cost effective manufacturing process. The purpose of this work is to investigate the geometry limits for the process. Advantage is taken of the strong kinematic constraints on this problem which allow direct calculation of the required ideal shear strains. These mapping results are then compared with actual forming experiments.
