N2 - The solution of an inverse problem for magnetic field mapping, and the related current distribution in the cross-section of a superconducting cable are generally not unique. Nevertheless, for many natural configurations of a transport current distribution in the cross-section of a superconducting cable, the resulting magnetic field can be used for the reconstruction of a current distribution even in the presence of noise to a degree. We show it using several examples. To perform the inverse calculation, the Tichonov method of regularization was successfully applied. The approach was applied for superconducting cables, but its application is general.
