Abstract
A modified low-Reynolds number k-ε model for predicting the effects of high free-stream turbulence (FST) on momentum transport and heat transfer in a flat turbulent boundary layer is presented. An additional production term incorporating the effects of FST intensity and length scale was included in the turbulent kinetic energy (TKE) equation. The model incorporates the physics of transport of FST in turbulence modeling and provides a new method for simulating flows with high FST.
