Abstract

Using well-aligned nematic liquid-crystal film as nonlinear optical coupling of two single-mode optical fibers, we have experimented with cw and pulsed 1.06- and 1.32-μm Nd:YAG laser and observed interesting optical nonlinear transmission and opto-optical switching effects.
