Numerical modeling and experimental study of a novel leaky wave antenna

Abstract

The design of a leaky wave antenna with a wide bandwidth was described. The spectrum of the antenna had a deep minimum inside the leaky wave band which were related to occurrence of resonances. The leaky component of the first higher order mode in the leaky wave antenna radiated in a relatively narrow band. A part of the power was radiated in the mode and the balance was used to excite the bound first higher order mode. The presence of standing waves induced radiation as an array of elementary oscillators.
