Abstract
We show that the application of duality to Tellegen media actually leads to the following conclusion: the nonreciprocity of a Tellegen medium is not uniquely recognizable. This is in contrast to Serdyukov et al. (Electromagnetics 16: 51–61, 1996). We show further that the chiral invariance of the Maxwell postulates could not have invalidated this conclusion, which is also a consequence of the Lorentz covariance of the Maxwell postulates.
