On the normalization on the spectral function of the nucleus and the EMC effect

Abstract

It is shown that a nonrelativistic normalization of the spectral function of the nucleus previously used underestimates the number of nucleons in a nucleus (about two nucleons for Fe). If the conservation of the baryon charge of the nucleus is accounted for, the contribution of the nucleon binding to the EMC effect is reduced by almost a factor 3. It is explained why the structure function of the nucleus is expressed through the light-cone wave function of the nucleus.
