### Abstract

A series of numerical simulations of 2D wall-driven granular flows were performed. Such simulations were designed with a specific goal, to quantify the continuum theory of partially fluidized granular flows, which was introduced ad hoc earlier. Using simulations of a thin Couette flow between two rough plates, the free energy density for the order parameter was determined.
