PERFORMANCE EVALUATION OF A NEW ALGORITHM FOR IIR ADAPTIVE DIGITAL FILTERS.

Abstract

An algorithm was published recently for adaptive infinite impulse response digital filters which has been shown to possess a certain degree of globally convergent behavior on multimodal error surfaces. This paper presents the results of some computer-based experiments that were done to evaluate the performance of this new algorithm for echo cancellation. Experiments were conducted with digitized speech, babble, and white pseudo noise and a comparison was made between IIR and FIR adaptive filters in this application.
