Abstract
A statistical profile has been generated of the powder injection molding industry utilizing surveys and interviews, supplemented by trade association data, information from three prior market studies and a review of thousands of articles. The cross industry statistical profile lists 1200 companies, including 500 molding facilities. Cost and engineering windows for success are identified in relation to end users and case histories. About 20% of the industry has a majority of the installed production capacity, sales, and most of the profits. The commercial value of component fabrication will exceed $200 million in year 2000 and worldwide sales are forecast to be in the range of $2 to $2.4 billion by 2010.
