Abstract
Two sewage sludges were used to compare full-scale belt press performance to two types of laboratory devices to determine if either could be used to predict the performance. The wedge zone simulator (WZS) could accurately predict polymer demand, filtrate quality and cake solids. The shear tester used with a CST device was no better than a free drainage test at predicting polymer requirements.
