Abstract

The interaction of humans with intelligent machines may be seen as a new form of dynamic social interaction. The social psychology of intelligent machines represents a proposed interdisciplinary approach to understanding the impact of artificially intelligent systems on human cognitive, emotional and behavioral functioning. A variety of observations are cited from the disciplines of social, cognitive, and clinical psychology, communications and human factors engineering. A call is made for the systematic study of these and related phenomenon to increase the understanding of human-machine interface.
