Abstract

The potential applications of the new high-critical-temperature ceramic superconductors range from microelectronic circuitry to large-scale power generation and storage. However, before all this is realized, materials scientists and engineers must first develop viable methods for fabricating these revolutionary materials into a wide assortment of functional shapes and sizes. In this regard, some topics discussed are the following: shape-forming techniques; tape casting; extrusion; slip casting; and sintering.
