Abstract

A bilayer comprising two matched layers of either piezoelectric or non-piezoelectric, continuously twisted, structurally chiral materials (PCTSCMS and CTSCMs) with opposite structural handedness is shown to reflect arbitrarily polarized, normally incident, plane shear waves almost perfectly in a certain frequency band. Applications as bandstop filters and notch filters for shear waves are envisaged.
