Spherulitic growth rate studies on poly(L-lactide-co-meso-lactide)

Abstract

The crystallization kinetics, melting behavior, morphology and microstructure of poly(L-lactide-co-meso-lactide) was investigated as a function of copolymer composition. The poly(L-lactide-co-meso-latide) samples were synthesized by melting and mixing L-lactide and meso-lactide in a flask under nitrogen. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) experiments revealed that the glass transition temperature of the samples was independent of meso concentration. The crystallization window also narrowed dramatically with increasing meso content in the copolymer.
