Abstract

This review covers the isolation of a family of structurally related tricyclic alkaloids. Topics discussed include the isolation and structure determination, biological activity, synthetic approaches to the cylindricines, synthesis of fasicularin, and synthesis and structure determination of lepadiformine. Furthermore, the Hsung synthesis of (-)-cylindricine C and the Renaud synthesis of (±)-lepadiformine are also considered.
