Abstract

Newly developed hybrid post-sinter processing, which is comprising partial copper infiltration with subsequent partial vacuum impregnation by inorganic compounds, provides viable alternative cost-efficient solution for residual porosity sealing within microstructure of powder metal (PM) artifacts from PM steels while simultaneously enhancing its mechanical characteristics and corrosion properties. Obtained data on effect of aforementioned hybrid post-processing of artifacts from several PM steels, which have been finally heat treated, are presented and discussed.
