The chemical reactions between n-tetradecane (a model compound for the alkanes in jet fuels) and the hybrid hydrogen donors benzyl alcohol and 1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-1-naphthol, and benzyl alcohol and tetrahydronaphthalene were studied. As compared with the results from using a single hydrogen donor, using hybrid donors resulted in synergistic effects towards reducing the pyrolytic degradation of n-tetradecane, suppressing the formation of free radicals.
