Abstract

Literature pertaining to synergistic enhancement of solidfilm lubricants by additions of non-lubricant phases is reviewed. Research directed toward identification of mechanisms by which SbSUP2OSUP3 additives enhance MbSSUP2 lubrication is described. Chemical, mechanical, and tribochemical reactions are investigated. Preliminary data indicates SbSUP2OSUP3 alters the oxidation behaviour of MoSSUP2. An experimental test apparatus for solidlubricant evaluation is described' (A)
